MARDI GRAS
Mardi is, for the most part, a sweet mare. While she dislikes other horses (to the point that she has to be put in the paddock alone and have several handlers at the track) and is incredibly dominant with them, she seems to have a softness for people. Unless she gets in a mood which is, thankfully, rare. When she does get into a mood Mardi can be described as down-right mareish - she'll buck, kick and bite. Your only warning? Her ears will be pinned to her skull, and it is advisable to give her her space. Mardi is a mare with a lot of energy and stamina.
In times of rest it is important to ensure she gets enough exercise to avoid her becoming over-energetic and (as a result) a higher chance of mareish behavior. She has the ability to race for several weeks in a row without becoming too tired. In fact, she has a true passion for racing. This is a mare that will come to the door of her stall every time someone passes with tack in the hopes she is going out and who really does give her all in a race. |

While her large stature makes her appear clumsy, she is what someone could describe as a dancer on her feet. This mare moves like a well-oiled machine, considering each and every step before she makes it. She is far from being lazy, and shows this well on the track. As delicate as can be she'll hang around the middle of the pack during the race like a unblossomed flower among weeds. Nine times out of ten, she'll see the home stretch before the jockey does and then she's blossoming.
By blossoming, I mean she's starts gaining on the leaders, eating up dirt and fighting it out. It'll make you question where that dainty little flower who appeared clumsy at first glance went. She'll seek out the leaders like a beacon and keep fighting, her heart drumming, her hooves pounding. Whether it's colt or filly, this horse will give it her all on the racetrack and when she crosses the finish line? She would still want to keep on going.
